Sneaking time to write an LJ update. There are some really good and some not-so-great things happening right now, but I just wanted to write about NIN.
The gig was awesome! I recommend attending in Melbourne if it is something you are umming and ahhing about. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed their music. God, who'd have thought I could get nostalgic about Terrible Lie. They played many songs from Broken/Fixed and Pretty Hate Machine and much other new stuff that I really dug as well. The four piece format worked well, with lots of really good vocals from the guitarist and bass player and left both Dennis and I wishing we spent more time playing music, well, me especially since D does play his guitar most nights :)
The biggest problem was a power outage about an hour into the gig. Apparently the whole grid in the vicinity of the Hordern went down. So there was half an hour of sweaty waiting with just dim sickly yellow emergency lights, while people around us sang Queen songs, lit joints and twittered LOL POWER DOWN AND TREZNOR ON STAGE WITH A MEGAPHONE updates. Yeah, he had a megaphone. He was pretty calm, given the disruption it effected. And they came back on with intense energy. Every song was crystal clear and really awesome. I haven't heard bass that guttural in a really long time and it was great. Just what I needed, to dance and go mad after what was quite a tiring day.
