Well, fuck.
I did the math, and even if I got an apartment in Oakland or Berkeley on the lower end of the market, the commute to work would end up making it cost as much as an apartment on the lower end of the market in San Francisco.
So, I guess that's out. That means I'll be paying up the ass for rent when I move out. I hope we get Series A soon, and my boss isn't a dick about giving us a pay raise when that happens. I have a sneaking suspicion that he'll tell us, "OHHH, sorry, we need to use the money to hire some good local engineers," instead of rewarding the people who have taken a huge cut to their pay potential to help him get this shit off the ground.
Assuming we get Series A at all. He expected to get it over a year ago, and look what happened with THAT. Six extra months of minimum wage, another six months of late paychecks...ugh.
I'm having a really hard time right now, guys. I need to move forward in some way, really make this life my own...and having to stake that on the whims and fancies of untrustworthy, selfish people is really frustrating.
