Tuesday August 10th - Went in to work at 7am. I began my day by taking pics of my project plants.  Rachel, Fabiola, and I left for Elliott Island by 7:45ish in a company vehicle.  We were to work with the restoration crew to rebuild the coastline for the day (I think Leslie just wanted to get us out of her hair since Tony was on vacation).  Rachel was driving, and we talked a bunch about road trips we've gone on.  Needlesss to say, we laughed a lot about getting lost during our adventures.  No sooner did we finish talking about how we always get lost, we came to a DEAD END.  We turned around and got back onto the main highway and took the next exit to the EXACT SAME PLACE.  We decided to stop and asked for directions.  We pulled up to some house where a woman was watering her garden.  She gave us directions, and we got to the site in plenty of time. The day was pretty monotonous.  It consisted of drilling holes, throwing fertilizer in the holes, throwing plants in the holes, and covering up the holes.  We did this over and over and over.  We took lunch at exactly noon - something I try to avoid (I don't like taking lunch that early), but I couldn’t do anything on my own, so I just took lunch with everyone else.  After lunch, I had to pee, but we weren't near the ONE porta potty on the entire site, so I grabbed a napkin and peed in some tall grass across the road.  After working again for a while, I saw Matt! :D He hung around for a little to help plant, but he had other things to do.  Joe, the boss on the site, took Matt Littlejohn aside and started yelling at him for no reason I could understand.  It got akward waiting for him to finish yelling at Matt, so I went to go talk to (my) Matt, Jimmy, and Chris.  They told me fun stories about Kody and how he drinks on the job.  They told me that Kody bitches about how Leslie doesn't put out and how she controls how much alcohol he consumes.  We got done work at 3:45pm. Rachel drove again, but we didn't get lost this time.  We dropped off Fab at her house, and on the way back, Rachel kept talking about how hungry she was so we stopped at Pizza Hut in Target.  We thought we passed Leslie and we thought she might have seen us eating, but she never questioned us about it.  ::whew::  We emptied the company vehicle and clocked out at 5:30. Wen I got home I cleaned the cat litter, took out the trash, emptied the dishwasher, and put the dirty dishes in the empty washer. I called my mom to talk about finalizing plans to come home. Once we had that figured out, I showered, tried a Four Loko that I bought for the boat party that I didn't end up going to, and I went on my computer.

Fun things:
1. There used to not be a porta potty on Elliott Island.  Only one the federal government began to fund the project was one manditory.
2. There used to not be an air conditioned trailor in which to eat lunch.  It, too, came to be because it was mandatory according to the government.
3. No water is provided for the workers. If working on the island, one is expected to provide enough water to get themselves through the entire day (about 6am-6pm).
4. Employees must purchase their own bug spray and sunblock to use on the island.

HOW FUCKED UP IS THAT?!
Animals get treated better than the people that work for Environmental Concern.
