Ballad

There’s something creeping within the dark

It fears to face the day

Within its mind glow half formed jewels

Their presence lucky, come whatever may

Its face between a spray of leaves,

Entwines unwinds- for there within in the hallowed

Eyes stare forth in multitude

Those who try to hold its stare are found lost and callowed

He spits the acrid breath-teen angst scorned

Will fester and build into a vast

Towering concept of high school hopelessness

The general depression of a generation lost

The beast crawls and creeps, its eyes

Flashing in a light. The shattered and scattered

Remnants of our past

Glow within its belly, the spirit of man

The serpent crawls and slides within

The high bush grass, content to hide

We continue to follow the travels

Of some great psycopomp a little mountain tribe.

The beast turns left then right,

Confusing those who follow.

There would be little doubt where the worm would end

The titanic death of a great thing brings me to some sorrow

I think the rhyme is done quite well

The meter really sucks

So just decide on how to drink and dress

and stand and act. Fuck
