Holy crap, is this real life?
Okay, so, like any consciencious constituent offended by the presence of a bill, I sent an email to one of my Senators about SOPA and PIPA. I figured that that would be all, since I'm one seventeen-year-old with one voice, and he's, y'know, a Senator.
I got a response.
I seriously got a response. And he was very, very logical and very, very good at explaining to me the rationale behind PIPA. The basis is good, but I'm not sure how good it will be in practice. Plus, I don't have the actual text of the act to analyze, so I'm not sure what the inevitable pork contains.
Still, this is how representative democracy is supposed to work. My faith in government isn't entirely gone. Just mostly.
I'm a little shocked and really, really pleased. I mean, I got a response for my angry letter to my Senator. And i don't even vote yet.
