you know who pissed me off? the dude on the hour long rock show on fuse. this is why i don't watch "music" tv anymore. i only watched it once, and he just...doesn't connect with the bands at all. sure the guy tries and he was hired on his music knowledge obviously, but there's something about a good vj that they can get answers out of a band that are more than 3 words or a short sentence. know the history of the band. read up on them, listen to their old albums, go on a few message boards and lj communities and know what's going on. if a song/video/album got leaked, don't just say "oh, bummer", say something like "oh yeah, i heard about that, what were your feelings towards it?/was it a final mix/cut that got leaked? and if the answer to the latter question is yes, ask them if they're going to remix it or rerecord it or scrap it or change the album tracklist. be connected to the band as though you're an interested fan, and if you think the band sucks, play the part. act as if though you're a fan so that an inquiring mind can get information beyond tours, album release dates, etc. don't go teen beat and ask about favorites and boyfriends and girlfriends, but ask if there's anything interesting about them. make the show interesting, have them do something dumb, take it out of the studio.
i'd go on, but it's futile. i'm seriously considering writing a letter to fuse complaining and saying my dog could do a better job hosting than this guy. i could do a better job than this guy.
