why jerry hall is more than an old broad looking for fresh kielbasa.
sure, you can say the premise of jerry hall's show "kept" on VH1 is nothing more than looking for a paid man whore. the whole premise of her show is that she handpicks twelve "unrefined" american down and out dudes and tries to polish them up into her own little refined european vision of perfection. that being said, why not? so many message boards, mainly the ones on vh1.com and imdb.com, (once you get past the bad typing skills and obvious overall juvenile feel to it) as well as some opinion articles, jerry is being slammed for even doing this show, being called all sorts of names and being a "disgrace to her gender".
hell, if i had 50 million dollars (roughly 26 million bsp), i'd have the same show. and i'll tell you why.
first of all, do you realize how many "kept" women exist? sure, maybe not to jerry's extent of a 6 figure salary, brand new car and london estate, but they do exist. the women that marry for money, or status. The ones that live in hamptons or on the upper east side or in beverly hills or alpine, or any rich neighborhood. the ones who spend their day charging their haircuts and manicures and lipo and collagen on their husband's american express and redecorating their houses and breeding afghan hounds. the ones who are just arm candy and a good hostess and a general good wifey who pops out three kids and drives a mercedes suv and bosses around a maid named rosa and all they have to do is look pretty when nessesary.. one stellar example of kept women i can give is hugh hefner's girlfriends. he has 6 beautiful, busty, blonde women living in his house. those women have anything they want from him, and all they have to do is fuck him and go to appearances with him.
so now the question remains. "why is a woman doing this?"
simply because she can. jerry hall is breaking a barrier in femininism. so many pop stars claim to break barrier by wearing short skirts and having risque videos. jerry is doing more than that. she's proving that "hey, if hef and all these other men can do it, why can't i?" and why can't she? she's doing nothing more than what hundreds of men have been doing for decades. okay, sure she has quite possibly been a kept woman twice in her life, so why can’t she have the fun now? women have been placed under a microscope for the past 10 million years, maybe the next 10 million we can hold the microscope. being a “kept” man is becoming very popular in the UK now, and it’s starting to pop up amoungst celebrities here too. look at britney spears and kevin federline, julia roberts and danny moder, and whitney houston and bobby brown, just to name a few. many of these men make measly pocket change compared to their women, and have been living in the lap of luxury while their women bust their asses working to provide the life for them. only problem is, many of these are hushed, even though obvious to the mentally retarded. jerry is going beyond that, she's basically saying "I AM WOMAN, HEAR ME ROAR." and declaring to the world shamelessly "so what if i pamper my man so i can have a pretty boy until i become old and frail?"
