When I close my eyes to this paradox place,
I’ll fly away, far away from here,
I’ll get away and dream, dream of you.
When it’s all said and done, and the night has come
I’ll disappear; take flight on a wind of wishing you were here.
“Kibum?” the boy turned around upon hearing his name and felt two fluffy paws on his back.
“Hey Roo. Hey Jonghyun,” he smiled and lifted his head to look at the other boy. “What are you doing here?”
“I should ask you that. I’m walking Roo as you can see,” Jonghyun gazed forwards, to the river, to the setting sun and violet clouds, “I come here. Sometimes.”
Jonghyun unleashed Roo and sat next to Kibum. For some time they just sat there in silence, watching Roo play with bugs and grass and whatever it could find.
“I come here, too. Sometimes. It’s beautiful up here,” Jonghyun nodded when the younger boy finished those few sentences and they sat in silence again.
Jonghyun could agree with Kibum, because this place was really beautiful. They sat on a hill, facing a river, old factories beyond it and the setting sun that painted everything in its colors, violet, orange, red. But here, on the hill, above their heads there were stars, not first few, but probably all of them. They were shining brightly and Jonghyun thought that he has never seen them like that before.
A bird flew somewhere above them and Kibum raised his head, just in time to see a shooting star.
“Look, Jjong,” he pointed a finger at the trail that the star was leaving, “make a wish.”
“What do you wish for?” he asked. Kibum turned to look at him probably for the first time this evening. Jonghyun noted that the boy’s face looked so pretty, soaked in a little dim light that was still there, until everything became dark for the night.
“I wish for so many things. I couldn’t even name half of them while the star was falling.” he took out a paper from his pocket, a little crumpled from being in there, and unfolded it. “Though I think I may make one wish come true.”
The older boy saw that was a paper they got at school, where you name the universities you want to go to. Kibum started making an airplane out of it.
“I’m not even sure about tomorrow, why should I choose what I’m going to do after a year or two.” he said while standing up and letting go of his plane. “Makeshift wings. Hey Jjong, what do you think, how far it will fly?”
“Wanna race mine?” Kibum laughed as Jonghyun let his plane go too and he fell on the grass again.
“They’ll go far, far away,” the younger smiled, looking at the horizon. “Was yours the paper we got at school too?”
Jonghyun nodded, still standing, looking from the horizon to down the road, where his dog was now.
“Roo, come here!” he called his dog and it was here in an instant, licking Kibum’s palms. “We’re going home now; everyone’s probably looking for us. You go too, Kibum. You live kind of… far.”
“I won’t. I said I’ll be spending night at a friend’s house,” he gripped Jonghyun’s shirt and looked up at him, “stay here with me?”
“It’s getting windy and cold.”
“I have two sweaters,” Kibum smiled at the older boy as he sat down again, closer to him this time.
“You better give me both of them.”
Kibum laughed and took two sweaters from his bag; he kept one for himself though. The wind started playing in his hair so he put on a hood and laid his head on Jonghyun’s shoulder.
“Jjong?” Kibum listened to his friends silent hum, indicating that he’s listening, “If we ever were to separate, like if I have to leave this city or if you have, I want to meet again here.”
“Sure thing.” Jonghyun smiled.
“So it’s a promise?”
“Yeah, it is.”
Later that night Jonghyun carried Kibum home, because he fell asleep on his shoulder. His parents didn’t say anything - they were used to seeing Kibum at their place, they didn’t even say anything about coming so late. Kibum was talking in his sleep and refused to let go of Jonghyun and only when Jonghyun got into bed with him and let the younger snuggle to him all he wants, only then he calmed down and smiled in his sleep, murmuring something like ‘I love you, Jjong.’
If you’ll be here, here with me tonight,
I’ll be fine, I’ll be fine, I’ll be fine.
A/N: soooo this is kind of crappy, I didn’t really manage to give that actual feeling I wanted. And somewhere halfway I realized I don’t really know where this is going. Oh and about those papers they made airplanes from. I don’t know about Korea, but I have seen in dramas/anime that in Japan they get those papers about universities... That airplane scene is kind of from an anime, hehe. >w< Anyways, I hope you like it? Comments are loved~
