This journal is dead to me, just the rest of you

I have come to the realization that there is infact a difference between happiness and true joy. I'd say I am a happy human being. My happiness comes from my thankfulness. I am grateful for my friends, my family, and the opportunities in life that I have a chance to experience. However, if my happiness is being derived from these things that I am thankful for, what happens when these things disappear? The happiness disppears as well?

Here's the difference. True joy comes from the heart. It comes from something inside of you that drives you to live. You could be living in a prison in the middle of Siberia waiting to die. In a situation such as this, happiness cannot be reached because there are not many things to be thankful for, however true joy can be accomplished.

True joy: something from the inside that drives you. Some like to call it "God". Once upon a time, I used to be a Christian, so I have experienced this faith and know what it feels like to be living your life for something rather than yourself.

But when I experienced Christianity, it was like an unconditional love. You become so dependent upon this love because its what you begin to live for. But imagine. What if this love was not real? What if there was no such thing as a personal relationship with "God"? If this unconditional love was existing all along in your mind, but did not really exist in reality, well then you would be living for absolutely nothing. But without ever realizing it.

And maybe love plays a part in happiness somewhere. I experienced love once or many times, and I'm sure that contributes to the happiness, but what about the heartbreak that comes with it? Maybe if you don't have love in the first place, then you have nothing to worry about. No hearts waiting to break.

I mean, sometimes its hard to be thankful for things. Especially when you don't have much. But really, it's as simple as ignoring the bad. You can't get down about things you don't have. Be thankful for the things you do have. The stars, sunsets, your hands, your shoes, your mothers smile, education, & opportunities.

I like life. Living is a good thing.
You should think so as well Zach.
Now think about what you have.
Stop complaining.
