It is a sad day indeed for the poor and disenfranchised

The only reason the Republicans wanted to bring down ACORN was because they helped poor and minority citizens to exercise their rights and the Republicans didn't want them to do that. ACORN wasn't engaging in voter fraud, they were mailing in incorrect voter forms because the government requires them to do so and they could get in trouble if they just threw them away. Of course, Republicans don't want minorities to vote at all so you can guess why they tried to get ACORN out of voting rights. Even if ACORN did help a prostitute and pimp to break the law, the method that the Republicans used to uncover it is illegal and wouldn't hold up in court. If a cop taped somebody without their knowledge to uncover incriminating evidence he'd lose his badge, and if a prosecutor used the evidence he'd be disbarred. The government cannot deny funding to an organization based on evidence obtained through the commission of a crime, and yet the Obama administration folded under Republican pressure and did just that. Ultimately a court ruled that it was in fact unconstitutional, but I guess by that point it was just too late to save the organization. Hopefully other organizations can step forward and pick up the slack that will be left by ACORN's absence, otherwise there are going to be a lot fewer voting people in inner cities and the Republicans will have a field day stepping on the rights of those who are poorer than they are. I'm sure that they're laughing it up right now, happy in the knowledge that they used lies, misinformation, and illegally obtained evidence to destroy an organization that was getting in the way of their nefarious agenda. We can't let them get away with it.
