Wow, what a strange day of transit for me today. This morning I had to get to work by 7, which meant that I had to get out to the RiverLINE train very early. I ended up catching one of the earliest trains which was apparently an express. The only station that it skipped was Riverside, but there's something strange about zipping across Pavilion Avenue at top speed and shooting through the station like it's not even there.
The trip home was even stranger. I caught the 409 bus to Burlington and ended up getting caught in a traffic backup on Keim Blvd. due to an opening on the Burlington-Bristol Bridge. The bridge was up for almost fifteen minutes, making me almost miss my train. I don't think I've ever seen that bridge open, and frankly I don't see how traffic doesn't back up all the way to Willingboro while the thing is opening and closing. The ship eventually came through, and we got on our way. I had to run to the station, and barely made it before the train came. Strangely enough, when I had made it to Palmyra and was taking the BurLink bus home I caught a glimpse of the Tacony-Palmyra bridge and it was also up. It makes me wonder if it was opening for the same ship I saw in Burlington, because they're only about 13 miles apart and it was probably a half-hour between when I was at the two bridges.
