And so the next stage of this horrible plan progresses

This is shaping up just like Lebanon back in '06. Israel responds to a bunch of poorly aimed and largely unsuccessful rocket attacks with brutal force, lobbing highly accurate, US-supplied weapons at areas with large civilian populations. After a short time they invade, cutting of the injured from even basic levels of assistance and treating aid groups trying to help as if they're potential terrorists. After a while they leave, with the implied threat that another invasion might come shortly should the Muslim population not kiss Israel's boots. Israel is obviously using as its justification every stupid argument that our government used to justify their invasion of Iraq, which just goes to show what our misguided and illegal occupation has done to the quality of international relations over the past six years. Israel has a right to defend its territory, but launching a lop-sided response, invading a sovereign nation and denying their victims access to medical care is simply not justifiable. Obviously Hamas would do the same thing if it found itself in a favorable position, but Hamas is a terrorist group while Israel is (at least in theory) a democratic nation with a (supposed) commitment to justice. If Israel cares even a little bit about the people of Gaza then they'll at the very least allow all these aid groups to get in and help, if only because it will improve their image to the rest of the world. Of course, if they cared at all about the people involved they wouldn't have launched this campaign in the first place and instead would have carried out a limited engagement targeting only the people who are causing them problems. That would have been the just thing to do, rather than responding with brute force and killing many innocent people.
