A sure cure for boredom...

Post a comment, and I'll give you a top 5 to provide. It could be anything. Repost, yadda yadda yadda.

Because garpu asked, the top 5 cd's I can't live without...

1. X&Y by Coldplay- Viva La Vida may well push this album down my top five, but I can't know yet because I've heard only two songs from it. Each Coldplay album seems to be better than the last, and this one is no exception. As is often the case, the single (in this case Speed of Sound) is not nearly the best song off the album. I cannot think of a song off this album that I don't like, and the track listing includes my top five favorite Coldplay songs of all time which would be (in order) The Hardest Part, Low, Square One, Talk, and White Shadows.

2. The Odd Couple by Gnarls Barkley- This really is, at least so far, the definitive Gnarls Barkley album. St. Elsewhere had some great songs (Crazy, of course, and Gone Daddy Gone) but also some very weird ones (Necromancer? Feng Shui?). The Odd Couple is pure gold, with Charity Case and Blind Mary giving Crazy a run for its money as the best of their songs ever.

3. Kind of Blue by Miles Davis- Probably the best jazz album ever. Includes some of the best artists in the genre such as Cannonball Adderley and John Coltrane.

4. August and Everything After by Counting Crows- The first and arguably best of their albums. Omaha. Rain King. Anna Begins. Round Here. Mr. Jones. Time and Time Again. Absolute jewels, every one of them.

5. The Richest Man in Babylon by Thievery Corporation- Not quite as well known, but still wonderful. The title track and State of the Union are the best TC songs yet, and Exilio and Meu Destino are my favorite foreign language songs of any artist ever. From Creation is also a good choice, very catchy.

music, quizes
