Well, last night was interesting to say the least. I got over to the hotel (Omni Shoreham) around 2:15, having walked up to Woodley from Dupont with one of my coworkers. Once we got there we set out to get everything organized and displayed for the silent auction, which was our part of the whole thing. We had pretty much everything set up and were just putting the finishing touches on it when something quite bad happened. Part of the roof came loose and collapsed down upon two of our people, I actually barely escaped it as I had just started walking away from the two of them when it happened. Nobody was seriously hurt, one of the people had a bump on her head and the other one who sustained the brunt of it had a nasty cut on her head but both of them were taken to the hospital and then released. Once the EMTs came and we got everbody squared away, we obviously had to change rooms. This required us to completely take down everything we had prepared and move it down the hall to another (nicer, in my opinion, and larger) room. The rest of the evening went off without a hitch, and it seemed to me that it was a success. I am currently in a lot of pain though, seeing as I had to stand almost constantly for about eight hours (I know Sean, you do it all the time) in uncomfortable shoes. I didn't get home until almost 11:30 at night, at which point I went straight to bed.
I didn't get to see the funeral last night, which was a shame. It would have been nice to see, but I didn't get to sleep until almost midnight and had to wake up at 6:30. I think I caught the very last part, although I wasn't able to focus on it because I had to get ready for work. I enjoyed the chanting a lot, I don't have a lot of experience with Latin chant having grown up in a post-Vatican II church but it really sounded "holy" and good and makes me wish that we had more of that sort of thing in the current Mass. Tomorrow I'm probably going to go down to the Basilica for a noon Mass in rememberance of the Pope, and then I'll probably be going over there again on Sunday for either 10:30 or noon Mass depending on what mood I'm in. Tomorrow I'm also hoping to go down and see the cherry blossoms along the Tidal Basin, I was hoping to go with a friend on Sunday but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this time, we were supposed to do this last weekend but the weather was just horrible and we weren't able.
