Pub Laws

thegreatgonzo probably knows the answer to this, but does a pub have any right to ask you to leave because you are not ordering food (but have bought drinks) and they have a group "waiting for a table for food"?

To put it in context, this is a pub, not a restaurant or even a gastro pub.

To put it further in context, other tables in the pub are also occupied with people who are 'only' drinking who are not being singled out or asked to leave.

To put it even further in context, the table with 'drinks only' that are being harrassed to leave is full of elderly ladies who happen to be knitting, and are told in no uncertain terms that they are "not in keeping with the image we want for the pub".

Fuck you, The Corner Store pub in Covent Garden, you ageist bastards!
