Vicarious boozin'

I love me some Gin and Tonics, especially when the weather is this nice. The other day, I bought an Oregon-produces gin called Cascade Mountain, which was about the same price as my "usual" gin (Sapphire). It's really yummy! We tried it straight just to get a feel for it, but that is a bit strong for me. I mixed it into an excellent G&T last night, so I see a new beverage of choice for the summer. As part of my attempts at better food-awareness I am trying to pay more attention to the origin of my food and drink, and finding tasty booze from a more local distillery is a nice bonus, though not necessarily a healthy one ;)

Anyway, the other day I stumbled across a gin review on a site called Slashfood. It's basically a food news site. As I scrolled through the latest articles, I noticed a couple other gin reviews and that they had a whole category called "Gin." Clicking on that pulled up a whole slew of reviews of different premium and non-premium gins written by the same reviewer. I learned a lot about gin just by reading them, and it's neat to see all the different things out there. The reviewer tries them in cocktails and straight and researches the history of the distilleries. Here's the link:

I'm a firm believer that everything worth eating or drinking is worth researching and understanding better. I've also decided that if I'm going to put something in my mouth, it had better taste good and be worth my money :)

drink, food
