Thinking of bentos
I watch this LJ community that is all people posting photos/info on their bentos, so it's been inspiring. I've always wanted to make bentos but never felt it was worth the energy. Now that I have time, I'm learning! Anyway, I'm distracting myself looking on ebay at bento supplies, even though I'm not planning on buying anything there.
I am so thankful for Daiso! I looked at one US-based supplier, and 80% of the stuff on there was from Daiso- and that was just the amount that I have seen in Daiso- and they were charging $5-12 dollars for each item! Good markup for stuff that costs at the most $4, and mostly $1.50. None of the items I recognized sell for more than $2 at Daiso, but since the box we bought jkyllo was $4, I have to get them the benefit of the doubt that not everything has a quadruple markup. The boxes I bought for myself for $1.50 were being sold for $10!!! Another seller was selling little soy sauce bottles for $.99/ each, and I saw them at Daiso for $1.50/ 6 pack. Funny.
Anyhow, it's an entertaining time-waster. No word today on my cat, which I need to assume means all is going according to plan.
