We have a 100yen store in Alderwood!! Ok, not really 100yen, but it's called Daiso, and everything in it is $2.00 or less and imported from Japan. It is an actual branch (not a franchise) of a Japanese company, and OH MY GOD I love it ;) I got 4 hankies, about 6 packs of origami (for wedding cranes), a big laundry hanging thing, and two packs of interesting bath salts for $21.24. *happy dance!* What I hope to find next time is a pair of those big clips for hanging futons over a railing. I think they would be perfect for airing quilts and feather beds. The store is actually really tiny and was incredibly crowded when we went on Sunday. Not surprising really. Everything under $2.00! My sister, bless her, read about the store in the business section of the newspaper. Apparently, this little store has something like a tenth of the items that a Japanese branch would have, and it is still jammed with stuff!!
A funny thing was the over-eager fanboy-type employee walking through the store saying "irrashaimase" (yes, wrong spelling, sorry.). He said it perfectly, though, so I honestly thought when I looked up I would see a Japanese man. None of the Japanese employees were greeting people like that... Oh, it was so fun. They even had the little cash trays, though no-one was using them. Made me want to go back to Japan!
