[photographs][lolita][hanami][kyoto][osaka][shinsengumi] the season of flowers and booze

Apr 19, 2010 23:41

So! I'm seriously ill from something I ate, but I cannot miss work. Ugh. I swear, I will learn not to eat things that have peppers in them, even if I remove said peppers because said pepper oil is still in there and yes, it will indeed make me sick. Good job, me. You're a moron.

The May Lolita meet has 10 or 11 people already signed up. O_o We have people from Aichi, Kyoto, Okayama, Osaka, Wakayama and now Fukui prefectures coming in for this. What. When did this happen? And over half of them are all new! Which is exciting. 8D

And now for some photographs! The Lolita hanami, some cherries around my area, and finally the Kyoto hanami and the Ikedaya! I promised my mom I'd load these up. See, Mom? I did it! Like...a month late. orz

First some blossoms around my house and down at a park in the Minami area where I went for a stroll.

A park in Minami!

The shrine behind my apartment complex.

This variety of sakura has taken root in the palm tree outside my school. It's become rather well known in our community, actually. And news crews come and take photos of it sometimes.

And the Lolita hanami in Osaka Castle Park!

Just some blossoms in the park.

They're much prettier when seen with the castle in the background.

These people were like "wat" and their dog was like "oh my God, get me out of this thing and give me some food. D8"

The ladies of the meet-up! From left to right: go_slow_ly, Andrea, Amelia, Becky, Runa, and some derpface named murasaki_kaze.

Andrea and Runa being beautiful together.

And then getting their "Rawr" face on while Becky looks cute instead.

xaqpi, Runa and that weird Kaze derpface again.

Zach being mysterious. Or just me being incapable of taking a good photo.

And then there was a squirrel monkey at the park. :( So tiny and cute.

I don't have as many photographs of the Kyoto hanami, but here are a few.

kodoku_sakura being a camera cyborg.

And rhole being pretty in red.

Mark is the only one looking at the camera. And I somehow missed getting a good photo of shigeruhiko the entire day. :( She was always moving or something.

The cherries were almost over, but there were still a bajillion people in Maruyama park.

Chocolate bread muffins make me want to do a nom face.

Can you guess where we went after the hanami?

That's right! We went to the Ikedaya - the site of the most famous battle the Shinsengumi partook in during their time in Kyoto. The food here is pretty good since it's part of the Hana no Mai chain, but it's the decorations, the specialty drinks and the location that sets this izakaya apart.

I mean, look at this! They remade the large staircase that ran up the Ikedaya!

And they have modern art representations of the Ikedaya Incident and the important figures throughout the restaurant.

Like Sakamoto Ryoma, one of the charismatic leaders of the anti-Shogunate forces.

Kondo Isami, the leader of the Shinsengumi.

Hijikata Toshizo, the demon vice commander.

Okita-san. ;A;

They also have several replica pieces gained from Eiga-mura and other movie studios.

This is all in one area, but it's a pretty cool old area.

The placemats were pretty awesome, too.

As were the menus.

But the best part? The specialty drinks were named after the members of the Shinsengumi. They have both alcoholic and non-alcoholic specialty drinks, which is awesome for those who want a good drink, but don't want alcohol. Very tasty.

Of course, my first drink was the Okita Souji - grapefruit base.

And Tara ordered Hijikata Toshizo (with the lemon). So we had them touch.

Also! I lied! I did have a picture of our lovely shigeruhiko!

My friends know how pathetic I am. That is three Hijikata Toshizos with one Okita Souji drink. orz

The Nagakura Shinpachi was really light and easy to drink!

But the Toshizo was best. |D

We all want to go back, so you can bet I'll be posting more pictures of what we buy/drink/do there. I bought a Shinsengumi haori, too. Because I am sad like that.

Now for me to pass out because teaching 5 classes in a row today while also being sick? Yeah, no. Have work until Saturday this week, too. OTL Seriously.
