Wow. There was hardly anyone at work today that I needed to speak to. I should have stayed hooooome.
At least the jet lag isn't bad. I dropped off to sleep somewhere around 11pm last night and woke up at 6am. I guess I've learned how to master the time difference thing? Or maybe I just never adjusted to American time. I have no idea. 向こうでほとんど寝てたしwwww
Coming back was a bit of a treat. We checked my bags early and Dad took me to IHOP for breakfast which was awesome. Harvest N' Grain pancake combo? Yes, please. I love having grains and nuts in my pancakes. And topped with blueberry syrup just to cancel out any healthiness the pancakes might have had.
Then we went back to the airport and lo and behold, security lines were nonexistent. I had one person ahead of me in line because I was laughing with my dad about how there was no one in there and they got to the line first.
Theeeen the interesting bit. They overbooked my flight and were asking people to bump for hotel, dinner and a 600$ voucher for United. I would have taken it if I didn't need to be back at work, but the worrisome part was this: they were assigning seating at the gate, but wouldn't give me my seat assignment. They told everyone without one to wait until they had enough volunteers who bumped. So I took a seat, sort of, in the crowded gate area and waited. It was about...15 minutes before they were supposed to take off that they finally called First Class and Business boarding.
But I still didn't have a ticket. And they were still asking for people to bump.
Cue me panicking. 8D Called both of my parents to keep them informed and then waited a bit more. Finally went up to the gate as they were calling Seating 1 (Economy) and asked why I didn't have a ticket yet. They looked around and picked mine up. Apparently, they'd had it all along, but were holding it - possibly in the hopes that I would bump or not show. OTL WHY, UNITED?!
Anyway, the flight was uneventful. An hour delay to actually take off, but we still arrived in time. Found out that flights from Japan go a southern route, while flights to Japan take the northern. Good to know.
Got off at Kansai, went through without an issue. Got home without any issues either. Which was nice. Got home and pretty much sat in my futon because it's FREAKING COLD HERE. Colder than Arizona at least. WHYYYYYYYYY.
Also, received a letter from a friend of mine battling cancer and cried. I miss her and I hope she survives. I lost one friend last year to brain tumors, found out another relative of mine died just before Christmas, but that he also had cancer; and now her. I've known she was ill for awhile, but hnnngh, I just want her to get better. She's such a beautiful woman, a close friend of the family, always a gracious hostess and just an all around good person. If you guys are religious at all? Keep her in your thoughts for me?
Also random, but because of stuff described in the cut, I'm thinking of getting a Facebook. I know. Everyone run, the end is near.
