the hill street resort
I got word this morning that one of my favorite places on Earth, the Hill Street Resort in Grant Park ( http://www.hillstreetresort.com ) is closing down, a casualty of the current economic crisis. The owners, Jerry and Michael, who renovated the entire facility from the ground up and have lived there for over 20 years are completely heartbroken. It's an incredible loss for them and the neighborhood, not to mention all of the folks who have have enjoyed Michael and Jerry's hospitality over the years.
To cover the expenses of closing down, selling the property, and moving (to Florida!!! ::weeps::), Jerry and Michael are in the process of selling off the parts of the estate they can bear to part with. They've invited friends to come, first come first serve, and purchase any pieces that they are particularly fond of or have sentimental value.
