I went to see Lord Of War today. It was much better then I thought it would be. I decided to see it because I assumed it would be a sort of bang bang shoot em up type of film that I could get absorbed in and forget about everything else around me. But alas, this was not to be. It had a lot of interesting social commentary in it, and incredible striking imagery that really took you by surprise and sort of knocked the wind out of you. I recommend it, but not if you are looking for a numbing experience.
While I was waiting for my ride after the picture, I was standing in front of a jewelry store admiring the sparklies, when I had an idea for an antique jewelry store in N.Y. that I would call New York Unique, or N.Y. Unique. Just a thought.
It is, in fact, incredibly late, and I am incredibly tired.
Once, a few years ago, I had this ragged old car with power windows. All of the motors on the windows had died, and it had no AC, but it did have those triangle windows that you can open up with a little latch. So I used to tie them open with a bit of string. Tie them to the door handles to keep them open so some air could flow through the car while I was driving. Well one day I'd gone to Barnes and Noble, and it started POURING outside. I mean it was coming down like crazy! So I didn't want to run out there just to untie my windows... But when it was done raining, and I left to go home, someone had closed the windows for me... I guess they saw that they were open, and tried the door or something, and closed both of the little triangle windows. Someone actually took the time, in the pouring ass rain, to open my door and figure out how to untie the string, and then went around to the OTHER side of the car, in the POURING ass rain, and untie the other. Outside of my bubble of doubt and pessimism that takes over infrequently, I am pleasantly surprised by the kindness of complete strangers.
