It's so sad how many beautiful places like this have been lost to soulless clones. It's a relief to know that the Byrd will still be there for many many years to come.
That was my favourite place to work for an unskilled university 'getting by' job. I worked there for about 2.5 years, it was almost a second home. I even slept during movies sometime on the plush velvet sofas in the balcony when I had stayed up too late studying (or partying!) and worked many many hours there saving up to fulfill my dream to come to London. If only it was in London I'd probably still work there part-time!
