Today, NYC rejected a proposal to use state funds for the west side stadium!! Woooo! The stadium was also integral in the NYC 2012 bid, thus: no stadium = no olympics. weee!
Now, I now this sounds like a really fucked version of civic pride, but unless you live here, you REALLY don't get how much that was going to fuck life up. Putting a goddamn stadium on an already over-crowded 2x17 mile island is RETARDED. We don't need more housing, we don't need more office space. We need cheaper housing and to refurbish all the old office buildings that are rotting away. Our state money could (and needs to) go to so many other worthy causes (uh SUBWAY SYSTEM PLZ), and not another goddamn stadium.
Now I hope Brooklyn follows suit and rejects the proposal for the stadium they want to put 5 blocks from my house. Talk about ruining the neighborhood.
In other news: it's all stormy out. I love this. 1) it makes my apartment cooler. 2) i just like storms.
let's hope it doesn't drown lower manhattan like it did last time though. that kinda sucked.
Lunch with Cpt. Fancy Pantalones today was fun, as always. We gossiped and reminisced and discussed just how ODD life has become. Lots of "did you think 6 years ago..." the giggliest is me now working at the label he was signed to when I met him. We also talked about the 'dolls (update for schmoopsie if she wants it - via phone), and TLV and Joey and crazy psychotic wives. He also gracefully skirted around that other issue, which I much appreciated. I think he knows. (p.s. also got some SERIOUS dirt on he-who-gets-outta-benz's that you will love).
and now it's book and bed time.
