Hindsight is 2020

Wow, it’s been over a year since I last wrote here. Who could have predicted the year we would have. I went into 2020 so full of hope. Ok, half full of hope, but I still thought things would get better. From me finally having enough seniority to get three weeks paid vacation to the holidays lining up with the weekend, I thought 2020 would be great.

And here we are....

Over 400,000 dead from COVID in the US, massive unemployment, and an insurrection. Ok, the last one was in 2021, but it is still something I never imagined. Also, since I last wrote, I have lost two cousins. My wife lost her grandfather. And on the day of his burial, we found out her uncle passed the night before.

So why am I hopeful for 2021? Despite all that has happened, I still believe in humanity. I believe we can become better than we are. And with a vaccine for COVID, it’s just a matter of time until things return to normal, or as normal as they can get.

This is all so crazy.
