There are times where she would take it back.
She would take it all back; trade everything she has now to step back in time. There’s so much she wants another chance at, to stop and prevent and just change-her mother’s death, Pippa’s madness.
Meeting Kartik.
She starts to think that it would be easier, life would be easier had they not met. Perhaps more ordinary, a little duller, but she would not be left awake at night wanting and wishing for golden bangles dangling from her arms, an Indian wedding with tattooed limbs, and two hands intertwined enclosed in a circle.
But in the end she knows, she always knows, that the dreams and the memories are worth more than the world.
And so she lies awake, waiting for her eyes to see past the bright, bright light.
