To put it simply, Ly does not like Hong.
It’s hard to get used to, living with a complete stranger who tried to hug you the first time you met. She spends half her time worrying that he’ll end up trying to rape her in her sleep and the other half just wondering if he’s psychotic. His stories of spending centuries reincarnating just to find her are a little more than far fetched - they’re downright insane.
While his mental condition was not her problem (and thusly could be ignored), Hong himself tended to bother her in general. He seemed to have a personal mission of getting in her personal space as much as possible, arms touching and the kind of physical contact that makes her uncomfortable. His energy is ridiculous, too; as soon as he sees her, he’ll be dashing towards her, his face already in a bright smile even as he trips from shoelaces or rocks or whatever. With him, it’s all wishing and belief and laughs and I’m happiest when I’m with you.
Ilu giggles when her sister informs her of all of this, pink hair bouncing slightly as she does so. She sees the flush on her cheeks when Ly speaks, the tiny grins that disappear as quickly as they appear. When she points this out, there’s stuttering out a quick denial of anything like that.
“So why don’t you just kick him out? You could just find him a place after all - we have the money for it.”
Ly thinks of what she could say - the quiet peace that settles in her stomach when their arms do touch, or the warmth in her chest whenever she sees him start running. Like this is how it’s meant to be.
“It gives me something to do, I guess. I took him in, so I’m responsible, right?”
It makes you happy, Ly, Ilu thinks to herself. She says aloud, “Yes, I suppose you are.”
