His eyes have an intimidating sharpness and are a kind of storm-gray, and her breath catches in her throat when he lifts his head to look at her. There’s a sudden rush of memory as he walks closer, falling into a river to find a pink shoe, a bath house with spirits and your name is-.
“Are you-,” she says, not really able to stop herself, “have you… have we met?”
He smiles, eyes now rounded and softer when he replies, “Yeah, we’ve met.”
He holds out his hand, waiting, and she takes hold of it without a pause of hesitation, thinking, Yeah, I’m sure I know you, too.
