I'm watching the democratic debate at the moment - a rerun on some news channel. And while I will remain tuned in to see what the candidates have to say, I initially stopped flipping the channels because I heard Anderson Cooper's voice. YUM. He's def my older-man crush. And if he runs a few elections from now, he's definitely got MY vote.
I firmly believe that a Democrat will be our next president. However, with each party only putting one candidate up for the final vote, I'm intently following the initial selection process - because, in my opinion, whoever wins the democratic bid will be our next president.
So here's my question - which, if any, Democratic candidate has your vote?
I'd start a poll, but I think there are a whopping 5(?) people that read this. Let me know, comment.
1) Barak Obama - maybe. He's got some good things, but he's not shining superbly.
2) John Edwards seems like a very nice man, and I think he would make a good vice president maybe. However, and this is probably a horrible thing to think, George Bush has tainted this nation's image, and if I were a foreigner, I would hear a similar accent and would automatically group Edwards and Bush together. Plus he's young, so if he doesn't win this one, he's got another shot.
3) Sen. Dodd - nothing against him, nothing really for him. He looks a little intimidating.
4) Hillary Clinton - first off, I just don't like her face. That's not really a reason to not elect her though. Her politics are sound and I really feel that the country would be run well under her. My objection to Hillary Clinton is from more of a feminist standpoint. Many people claim that GW got into office/his objectives were altered because of his father. I would hate to elect the very first woman president in history and have bitter people say that she only got in because of her husband, or she's her husband's clone/puppet. There has already been a question in this debate regarding this issue - and this is just one debate! I don't think either of those things, but I just know that some people would say them. It would be like a baseball record with an asterisk next to it. I want my first female president to go out, kick ass, and not have the image/impression of relying on a man to do it.
5) Joe Biden - I think he's the forerunner for getting my vote. He seems to have good, realistic goals, appears approachable yet firm, and his answers seem sound to me. I want to look into him some more.
6) All the other candidates. They aren't really looking like they will make it too far. I'm afraid that it will ultimately come down to Barak vs. Hillary, and I'm not fond of it (considering that I think I'd like Biden's name in there).
We'll see. I was very interested in the election of 2004 - but moreso the issues than the candidates. Since there was not really a heavy favor to either candidate (whereas, like I said, this time I believe a Democrat will work). Either way, I was 3 weeks too young to vote in 2004. Now I'm interested in the candidates, and WATCH OUT AMERICA - I get to vote ;)
