Live from Prague

Well, here we are. Day 2 in Prague. Our first day was pretty taxing. I barely finished up my work on time to pack and then get ourselves out of the house. I am proud to say, however, that I managed to fit everything that I needed into a European-sized carry-on. Go me!

We got to the airport a little over 2 hours before our flight, yet almost managed to miss it. Long story. Needless to say, we did make it on the flight, which left at about 5pm EST. Neither of us got much sleep on the flight over to Paris -- I think I might have squeezed in 2 hours or so. We were split up, and I had to sit next to this nosy woman that was all up in my business and all up in my personal space. We had a quick layover in Paris, slept for an hour on the plane and then arrived in Prague at 9:30am here (I think we're 6 hours ahead).

Our hotel is right of the main square in Old Town. We walked around this area, took in the Jewish quarter, and went down to see the Charles Bridge (and even climbed the tower!). Considering we were fighting to stay awake whenever we were inside any place warm, we were troopers! We headed back to the hotel room, took a 40 minute nap and then had dinner at a restaurant located on the 7th and 8th floors of a bell tower. Our table was directly underneath the bell, and I had to fight the urge to reach up and start ringing it. My first experience with Czech food wasn't that bad -- a Bohemian style potato soup, and then a Bohemian ragout of 4 meats that was served with potato pancakes and sliced "spa" dumplings.

Almost forgot. On the way to dinner, I fell -- the cobblestones here are lethal, plus it was dark and I was loopy from lack of sleep. End result: I think I twisted my ankle, but nothing too serious. It is a bit sore today and doesn't like being twisted in certain directions, but I can walk and that's all that counts.

We had good weather yesterday, with a lot of brilliant blue sky for a lot of the day. It is definitely cold though! No rain today either, but lots of clouds. Hopefully it will clear up a little later, but I am definitely not complaining. ;)

Ok, we're off to check out Prague castle!
