So, I just watched Slumdog Millionaire.
It was sort of like watching an artist using oil paints to fill in the pages of a kids coloring book. It pretty much never went outside the lines, so most of the time I knew exactly where the next brushstroke was going to go. However, it ended up being so bright and vibrant that it still held my attention. So I suppose I understand the best picture win, even though I personally wasn't all that taken with the story. Although I really did like the way the plot was hung on the millionaire show. It seemed so wacky and arbitrarily chosen, yet it wrapped everything up so cleanly.
... But halfway through the film, I told Michael "What do you want to bet that the last question is going to be ____?"
Fuck. That was EXACTLY what the last question turned out to be, and it was heartwarming. That disappointed me a bit. I really prefer to be surprised and/or confused by films. Come to think of it, all of my favorite films have left me depressed, confused, shocked, or all three. Feelgoods were never really my scene. Hahaaa, I'm a pretentious turd.
But yes. Good film, all things considered.
