Journal? What journal? Ehhh, I dunno. I get the sense that only 2 or 3 people even read my journal, and they message me every day anyway. And whenever I sit down to write, I'm struck by how inane anything I would have to say really is. Of course I keep this journal more as a record for myself than for my friends, but I still like to have the idea that can offer something at least remotely interesting. Yet nobody comments when I leave opinions. Eh.
Ummm, stuff. Took Fat Kitty Fred to the vet today, because he's been walking very stiffly. Turns out he just has arthritis, just like we suspected. Nothing can really fix it, but hell, a 42$ office visit is a small price to pay for peace of mind. Now we know his heart and lungs sound fine, his teeth are good, and he's not diabetic. And as odd as it sounds, I'm actually pretty proud to take him to the vet, just because he's such a mellow, affectionate and well-behaved cat. He rubs up against the doctor's legs, purrs almost non-stop, doesn't fight when the doctor opens his mouth, and holds still while he gets his heart rate and temperature taken. He's such a wonderful kitty... It pains me to see him getting so old though. If I could shave a couple of years off of my own life and give them to him, I believe I would. He's been a companion to me for over half of my life now... Even when I was away at school, I thought about him every day and kept his picture on my desk.
I forget which one, but a French philosopher once said that if you never care for an animal, a part of your soul remains unawakened. An immortal truth if there ever was one.
