Meditations of Tipherah...

The sixth Sephirah brings Chesed and Geburah back into balance.  Tipherah is beauty, splendour, honour, glory.  Tipherah is balance and equilibrium, the centring of the extremes of Chesed and Geburah.  Chesed by itself destroys boundaries and individuality.  Geburah by itself creates division and conflict.  Only in Tipherah do these two forces balance.

Tipherah is the ark of the covenant, which is the resting place of Shekhinah.  It is the place where blood was splattered to bring forgiveness for the sins of Israel.  Tipherah is about sacrifice and redemption, death and resurrection.  In Tipherah, G-d sits in judgement (Geburah), but also has mercy (Chesed) on us.  Tipherah is the closest we can come in our daily lives to Kether.  Temporarily, for a moment, we can rise up into Da'ath in the abyss, and see Kether in the distance, but we will always return to Tipherah.  Tipherah is where we must desire to reside.

Tipherah is both the Sixes of Tarot and the Knights.  The Sixes are about solving problems.  They are the results of the Fives.  They are about settling back to a balance and stillness after the uncertainty of the Fives.  The Six of Wands is Triumph, Acclaim, and Pride.  The Six of Cups is Good Will, Innocence, and Childhood.  The Six of Swords is The Blues, Recovery, and Travel.  The Six of Pentacles is Having/Not Having, Resources, Knowledge, and Power.

The Knights are also the Princes.  Unlike the Sixes, the Knights are never still.  They are ever changing, showing the dynamic element of Tipherah, which stands in the middle between Chesed and Geburah, Malkuth and Kether.  Tipherah is the crossroads, where the Knights come together to joust.  Each Knight has many possible characteristics, since they are always moving, always changing.  The Knight of Wands can be Charming, Self-Confident, Daring, Adventurous, Passionate, Superficial, Cocky, Foolhardy, Rstless, or Hot-Tempered.  The Knight of Cups can be Romantic, Imaginative, Sensitive, Refined, Introspective, Overemotional, Fanciful, Temperamental, Overrefined, or Introverted.  The Knight of Swords can be Direct, Authoritative, Incisive, Knowledgeable, Logical, Blunt, Overbearing, Cutting, Opinionated, or Unfeeling.  The Knight of Pentacles can be Unwavering, Cautious, Thorough, Realistic, Hardworking, Stubborn, Unadventurous, Obsessive, Pessimistic, or Grinding.

Where is there beauty in your life?  Where can you create more beauty?  Where are you too giving?  Where do you judge too harshly?  Tipherah is about finding balance in your life.  Where are you out of balance, and how can you correct this and swing back to equilibrium?  How can you be still?  How can you change?
