50 Gates of Understanding...

I'd like to correct a couple things I said in my post of the Gates, and to look at some new things about the 50 Gates of Understanding.

First of all, the third "source" I mentioned isn't a source.  It's an interpretation and a way of looking at the 50 Gates.  The three sources are the questions in Job, the mentions of the Exodus (though there are more, so you have to determine which 50), and 50 times a Samech-HaShem statement is made in the Torah.  A Samech-HaShem statement is one where something and the name of G-d are used together to mean the something of G-d.  Samech, of course, means Support, so it's images supported or lifted up by G-d, as I'll talk about when I discuss the Divine Mirror.  These statements are things like "the Eyes of G-d", "the Hands of G-d", etc.

The questions in Job are about the Creation.  They are fifty questions concerning place.  Where were you?  Where are you?

The Exodus statements are about time.  When did it occur?

The Samech-HaShem statements are about Divinity.  Who is G-d?

Place, Time, and Divinity define all that is.  If we can learn each of these three ways of looking at them, we truly understand.

Also, after listening to Kabbalah To Go's The 50 Gates of Understanding podcasts, I decided, based on the above and other details, that it was impractical to post about each Gate (of these Gates) right now, since I don't think I could identify the three sources for each one, corrilate them, and assign a name to them.  This is beyond me at this point.  So I'll do a series of general posts instead, as I learn more.

The Gates of Understanding are a very complicated topic.  The Gates can be seen as just what I descibed in my earlier post, but there is much more to them.  First of all, the Gates are really paired.  The 50 lead to a second 50, making 100.  In addition to this, each world has a pair.  So there are four pairs of 50 Gates, or 400 in all.

Now, the 50 Gates is an interesting number.  There are 32 Paths.  32 is 2*(4^2) - two times four squared.  There are 50 Gates.  50 = 2*(5^2) - two times five squared.  They are part of a sequence.

50 is 2 time 5 time 5.  There were five original letters, Aleph, Beit, Gimel, Daleth, and Heh.  These doubled into Vev, Zayin, Chet, Tet, and Yod.  These ten formed the other letters.  The number of letter in each set, multiplied together, then multiplied by the number of sets is 50.

Up to Binah, Understanding, there are eight Sephiroth.  50 * 8 = 400.  Each Sephirah forms in a pair, making four sets of doubles.

50 is Nun, the Moshiach (Messiah).  Only Moshiach has/will pass through the 50th Gate, the Gate of Understanding.

Binah is feminine.  Women have an understanding of Binah and the 50th Gate that men don't have.  Men function in Chokmah, purely shining light into the darkness.  Women Understand choising what to keep and what to throw away.  The shadows Chokmah doesn't make disappear must be handled with Binah.  Women are better at this.  Men ask questions; women answer questions.  This is Binah, the Supernal Mother, Understanding.
