The 19th letter of the Hebrew Aleph-Beit is Quph, which literally means in Aramaic "eye of the needle", and in Hebrew "monkey" or "to surround or touch". The mystical meaning is omnipresence and the redemption of the Sparks. The form of Quph is two letters: a Resh a little above the line on the right, and a Zayin dropping below the line on the left. The Resh represents G-d as holy and separate from that which isn't. The Zayin represents G-d reaching into the worlds, being present everywhere, lifting up the Sparks. G-d surrounds and touches all things, while still being separate and holy. Zayin and Resh spell Zeir, another word for Crown, and Zar, foreign, and raz, mystery. G-d is both king in the world and a foreigner. All Mysteries point to G-d. As the monkey, Quph represents vanity and the false imitations of this world. These are the things that trap the Sparks in the Qlipoth. As the eye of the needle, Quph represents the hollow spot G-d created in Tzimtzum, where the universe could form.
Quph is 100, the number of Gates made up of two Sephiroth, Malkuth of Malkuth through Kether of Kether. Other Hebrew words with this value in gematria mean vessels, the times, and a bottle or flask. Quph as the Eye of the Needle represents the vessel or flask containing the Universe, and the times we live in. 100 reduces to 1, as does Yod (10). Aleph, Yod, Quph form a sequence. Aleph is the first emanation of light, Yod is the point that light came from, and Quph is the vessel containing that light. Quph it the 19th letter. 19 is Eve, the manifestation of creation as the mother of all nations. 19 becomes 2, Beit, the House, which is the Womb that all nations come from.
In the Ari's Tree, Quph connects Binah, Understanding, to Chesed, Mercy. It represents the Understanding of G-d that is present in mercy. In the Gra's Tree, Quph connects Hod, Glory, to Malkuth, Kingdom. Here, it represents Hod manifesting on earth, which is Eve. In Kircher's Tree, Quph connects Netzach, Victory, to Malkuth. This is God's Mercy reaching down to redeem the Sparks. In all three Trees, Quph crosses from one Pillar to another, representing G-d's omnipresence.
When we first come to Quph, we find the Moon here. This represents the Monkey aspect of Quph, the illusions of this world we see as reality.
The Fool finds more understanding of G-d's Omnipresence in Quph.
The Sun in Quph represents G-d apart (the Sun in the sky) but reaching down to us (the heat and light of the sun).
How is G-d present in your life? Do you let him be? Are you working with him to restore the Sparks?
