Æsir-Vanir War - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:In stanzas 21 to 24 of Völuspá, the war is recounted by a Völva (who refers to herself here in the third person) while Odin questions her. In stanza 21, the Völva says that she remembers the first war in the world, when Gullveig was stabbed with spears and then burnt her three times in one of Odin's ( Read more... )

Wow, I am so glad that I found this post. I am just trying to catch up on my LJ stuf after the big storm. :)

Maybe Gullveig is the third of the Triple Goddess: Frigga, Freyja, Gullveig. I have always been a big fan of Triple Goddesses, which I why I think I relate so much to The Morrigan.

Yes, I just read it! Even though the poster uses their argument as a basis for why Frigga and Freyja are different Goddesses, I think the same argument can and has been used to suggest that she is one in the same. very interesting stuff. Of course I won't likely be bringing up that opinion over there, as it might make me look fluffy ;)

Of course I won't likely be bringing up that opinion over there, as it might make me look fluffy ;)Personally, I found his argument a little weak, and would be more inclined to call it fluffy than most of what you write. I'm starting to think people use fluffy for anyone they don't agree with. Whereas I think of it as a word for people who just go through the motions of religion, but never think about it or feel it. By that definition, you aren't fluffy. I have, however met fluffy Christians, fluffy Wiccans, fluffy Astru, fluffy Buddhists, fluffy Muslins, fluffy Pagans, etc, etc, etc, who fit this description. There's a verse in the Christian Bible that says "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth." Even if I disagree with someone's beliefs, I want them to be serious about what they believe; think about it, feel it. To me, fluffiness is lukewarmness ( ... )

Oh darn...I missed this comment....that was why I asked a rather dumb question down below...sorry.

I totally hear what you are saying about the fluffy thing. I agree with you. I like people who think, muse and ponder. Even if I don't agree with them, I respect them for being a thinking person who is fully invested in their spititual discovery. So when people are lukewarm, as you say, I agree that lends to fluffy more than someone I disagree with, but who has put a lot of thought into their spirituality.

Not everyone is as far down their path as others. We are all at different points, and I always try to take that into account when engaging in spiritual discussions with others. Where they are on their path and how they got to where they are.

Or I just might be tired this morning. I looked back through the post, and it is mostly lore based, though I find it weak, still.

You find which part weak? The argument for or against her being the same Goddess?
