Shiflut, Lowliness, Part 2...

A Witch's Esbat:We are all dressed now in our black garb, adjusting our cloaks as we stand now in humility and poverty; the beginnings of all magical power.

Magical power doesn't begin with confidence or pride.  It begins with humility.  It begins with Shiflut.  Before we can hope to change the world around us, we have to first realize and acknowledge that in and of ourselves, we have no power at all.  All power comes from the Divine.  Only the Divine can step out of Mazal, out of Fate, and redirect things.  We can only change things with the power we receive from the Divine.  Humility must proceed our rituals, our magic, our worship, our pursuit of Truth, or we will find nothing.  Humility is the lantern in the dark that allows us to see clearly and do what we need to do.  Our pride, if it isn't built on a foundation of humility, will just push us further into the chains of Fate, the chains of Mazal.  If you are to receive power, you must first realize that it's never yours.  It's just loaned to you.
