"This secret is implied by the fact that up to this point in the portion the letter samekh does not appear. Although the Companions have commented, still samekh is a helper, namely a helper above, for above turned face-to-face, male and female supported by each other, indeed, supported eternally, fashioned in truth and integrity (Psalms 111:8). Supported--male and female, supported as one. The world of which we have spoken depends upon the world below, for as long as the world below is not arrayed, neither was the world of which we have spoken.
"YHVH Elohim had not rained upon earth, for one supports the other. This lower world, once arrayed--once turned and arrayed face-to-face--became a support above, for previously the work was in disarray. Each depends on the other."
~Zohar 1:35a (Pritzker Edition Volume 1, Pg 218-219
The Zohar teaches that the man and the woman were created as one person, back-to-back. The man, Adam, faced forward. The woman, who would be Eve faced back. Wehn Eve was separated from Adam, they changed from being back-to-back to being face-to-face, referring to them coming together in intercourse. When this happened, they could the support one another. Eve is a helper for Adam, just as samech is a helper for the temple, a support holding it up. Until Eve could be a helper in the world below, there was no support, no helper, in the world above. This support is what brings order to the world above, just as Adam and Eve helping each other brings order to the world below.
The important thing isn't Adam and Eve here, but the principle shown. What happens in the world above depends on the world below. What we do effects what happens in the world above. Most people remember as above, so below, but forget that it is true in reverse, maybe even more so. Until we act in the world below, nothing can happen in the world above. Our actions change heaven, or the world beyond, or the other world. It's the actions done here that make the difference. That is why this world is called Olam Ha'Assiah, the World of Action.
There's a quote from Robert Cochrane (which I can't find because I don't remember the wording well enough) that says something like the world beyond is a a world of our own making, or we build now the world we will live in. I wish I could find the actual wording. But it can be taken two ways. First, the world we live in in the future (this world) is what we build in the present. Second, the world beyond is what we build in this world. Taking the second way, it can be seen as the same thing as what I am talking about.
