Digg and "crappy hacks"

I think the interesting thing about Digg and "crappy hacks" is the demonstration of exactly how little computer science actually matters any more. Like, sure, if you're writing an operating system, or something that needs to compress video or route packets then you're going to need to know how to code properly. But in reality the thing that matters is getting eyeballs and advertisers onto the site. The technology? Not so. If it's a success you just hire someone who's good at bashing stuff together and keeping it going.
Also interesting is the ongoing and conspicuous failure of "correct" solutions like Java, net beans, J2EE, application servers and all that bullshit. I vote "bash it together".
