ya, i know the dates are wrong. and i have been thinking about it a lot lately, but i'm not really sure where i stand at. although what with working in retail and all now, i know what everyone says is supposed to be a day about giving and being with family has been buried under things like trying to get the best present, spending way more for things than you would any other time because you waited until the last minute, and being short and impatient with sales people... although i have to say that even our "short/snappy" customers were probably nothing compared to what we could have had if i worked at sears or some big store like that.... but ya, i'm still pondering. however, i still enjoy the fact that i get to see my family, and the smile on there faces when they see what i gave them. if i can find a way to have extra money for it, i would like to try and give little things to people i love all year. (like if i see something at a store that i know they would like a lot...)
in other thoughts, isn't it interesting that our Savior came into the world when everything in nature "dies", and left the earth when everything comes back (with new life) in the spring? i never really noticed that before... did you? anyway, just thought that was cool.
well, regardless of what you are doing today, i hope you have a blessed one! who knows how much people have screwed it up, yet still it was made by the one and only Creator!
I commend you.shieldofdavidDecember 25 2005, 19:53:05 UTC
I commend you for your good attitude and humility.
Remember this: sin is pleasurable for season, as scripture says. I too liked seeing the smiles and spending time with extended family I rarely go to see. But, now that I look back, I wasn't helping them be truly full of JOY in any way by celebrating a pagan holiday with them. Those smiles will not matter at judgment. Having a temporary good time will not be remembered in the end.
You are a merciful person. Which is good and the way you were created. We should be merciful toward each other as we are commanded to by our Master. Don't confuse your merciful tendency for love, however. Love is correctly defined in scripture. And, as you mature in Messiah, you will be able to direct the mercy Yah gave you in a proper direction in a proper way. There is no greater mercy than that Yah should send his Word and Sacrifice to give us redemption from our sin. Mercy does not leave one floundering in their sin. Mercy does everything possible to rescue people from sin. Though at this time, it may not be evident to one like yourself with much mercy and a big heart, that ones like myself are actually applying as much mercy as can be gathered in us to warn our brothers and sisters of Adam-kind to flee the snares of the evil one. It breaks my heart to see most of my family of Adam being led astray to destruction.
Remember that, and don't let TRUTH become unimportant thus causing mercy to be misdirected. Such misdirected mercy will only soothe people in their sin who need to be uncomfortable there and so come out.
If Israel would obey their King and Creator, we'd all be gathering together at the set-appointed feasts, which are much more joyous, with much more meaning to our Faith, than the pagan substitutes. For example, we are commanded to feast for 7 days for Tabernacles and have a final Last Great day of the year on the 8th day. (this is when Messiah was born, the first of Tabernacles and circumcised the 8th day). In other words, we get to CAMP OUT TOGETHER FOR A WHOLE WEEK REMEMBERING THE GREAT GIFT OF MESSIAH and that through him Yah delivers us from Egypt (the world system) to be in his PROMISED LAND forever. Passover is another seven day feast in the spring when we are to gather together, celebrating the LAMB THAT WAS SLAIN and that he removes the leaven (sin) from our lives. And that in so doing, we have the hope of resurrection to life, that death may passover us at judgment.
If we'd all just obey the Master, we'd have much more fun worshipping in Spirit and Truth at Yah's appointed times. But the churches are telling everyone that their "Jesus" did away with all of that joyous gathering for worship in favor of pagan holidays. That ought to warn us as to the counterfeit and who's behind it!
Keep seeking and you will find TRUTH. We are all seeking and at different places in that persuit. You are my sister in Faith and I know that as such, you are destined to be in the remnant spoken of in scripture. May it be according to Father's will!
Concerning the prophetic nature of the feasts and seasons. No one will be able to take the carnal into Zion (promised land) with them. After tabernacles (being led from Egypt in the wilderness) we must learn to fully TRUST in Yah for provision and our very LIVES. It may be a harsh environment, but we must have FAITH that he will see us through to Zion. All things remain alive during the winter months even if only as seeds, just as we remain alive after our fleshly desires (carnal nature) dies. To the outward it may look like everything is dead on a decidious tree which bears good fruit in season. But really, only the outward life is being shed in favor of the inward, which will result in great fruit in the next season of LIFE in Messiah as we enter the good land he gives us. The Garden of Eden will be restored in the restoration of ALL things spoken of by the prophets since the beginning. And the New Jerusalem containing it will come out of the heavens as a dwelling place for the righteous.
I'm sure there is much more for us to learn concerning all these things and may the Word teach us. I compliment you for even noticing there was something prophetic going on with the commanded feasts and the seasons!
thanks. i didn't really mean that things really died in the fall, but that like you said, it appears as though everything is dying, when really it is just "stripped down" to its simplest form. ahh... i miss fall already, it is my favorite season. it smells good, the weather is good, and the trees are beautiful.... *sigh*
