Wow, the last couple of weeks have been nothing but a blur.
My wife's grandmother passed away two weeks ago. She was on a plane bound for the East Coast within 14 hours of us hearing the news.
Which means I was left home with the kids alone for a week. My company was fantastic about letting me work from home and at odd hours so I didn't have to burn a weeks worth of Paid Time Off, which was really nice.
I decided that I could never be a single parent though. Between trying to get work done, taking care of the needs of the kids, doing housework, etc. I didn't get anything else done the rest of the week,
Thankfully, my wife returned home last Thursday afternoon just in time for me to drag her out to this fancy awards dinner.
I was so tired Friday morning that I got to work 90 minutes late because I had missed my alarm. I then went to a 45 minute meeting and we (the office) left to go to see War of the Worlds, which I didn't really like all that much. I haven't read the book, so I have nothing to compare it to. I'm also getting a bit tired of seeing and hearing about Tom Cruise everywhere I go, so maybe that had something to do with it.
It was nice to get out of the office for a few hours though. Soon after the movie was over, I went home for the afternoon.
The long weekend went by way to fast and I'm ready for another vacation. We were scheduled to be camping this week, but with the quick trip back east and some work obligations we weren't able to go.
So here I am spending a full day in the office for the first time in nearly 2 weeks and I'm about to fall asleep. Oh well, the leather chair near my desk is calling my name......
