Best. Weekend. Ever.
Thursday was Stephanie's birthday, and she wanted to go to a gay bar. This week is Costa Rica's first ever "out week" so we figured that'd be a great activity. We wound up at club energy on Trans night. Got to watch my first ever drag show, and it was pretty amazing! Lots of fun, lots of dancing.
Friday we all went to Cartago to work at a youth camp. I was expecting like... 8 year olds, but when we got there, we found out they were all 15-19 year olds. So i was a little intimidated! It wound up being a really excellent experience though. The kids had great attitudes, and I learned so much from them. We did team-building exercises with them on Friday night, then helped them with painting and building a fence on Saturday morning. None of us really wanted to go to this thing because we were all so tired from the night before and just wanted the night off. I was really glad we went though because it was a great experience.
Yesterday 6 of us went white water rafting! It was a lot of fun, but not as life-threatening as i had remembered it being. The guide was really good... laid back.... a couple of times, he said, "mayday. mayday. we are going to crash" as calmly as possible as we were about to crash into rocks. My thighs are sunburned and my back is peeling really bad, but it was a great weekend all together.
Next sunday I think we're going bungee jumping. woot woot!
