Crankiness about Rachel and Zenyatta's connections

Yeah, so it's only taken me a week to weigh in on last week's races. Can I say again how tired I am of the vitriol being spewed about how Rachel is a hack? It's funny, but I feel like I'm rooting for an underdog these days. Hate the connections, not the horse. She's got just as much talent as Zenyatta. You don't set 3 stakes records and very nearly ( Read more... )

Zenyatta fans think Rachel isn't that good because she lost some races.

Rachel fans think Zenyatta isn't that good because she's only raced against boys once.

Seems like both sides of the equation need to lighten up. Rachel hasn't been racing boys her whole life, and it wasn't until Jackson stepped in that she ever did. Zenyatta raced them once and won pretty nicely. They are obviously both talented horses. Don't know why one side has to beat down the other.

They best NOT run her in the OP handicap. That's the old Apple Blossom weekend. We've already had to change our plane tickets, hotel and rental car once because of Jess jackson, now they aren't even running. I don't even care that we don't get to see Rachel, but if Zen switches to the OP handicap i'll be pissed. The Arkansas Derby alone isn't a good enough reason to fly to Arkansas when I was just there last weekend, hauling my horse down.

There are rumors that Rachel was hurt, why else wait so long to bring her back when the Apple Blossom is CLEARLY the spot to make a comeback in. It's completely ridic. all of it. They should still be running, even though she lost.

I dunno about an injury. If there was one, they're keeping things mighty quiet. Zenyatta's people gave her 7 months off last year though. I think Jess just over-anticipated Rachel's ability to get fit quickly. I suspect he talks alot of BS but doesn't know as much about horses as he thinks he does.

I'm glad I was waiting till after the preps to finalize my travel plans.

I don't think any less of Rachel for coming up short in her first race back in 6 months. I just hope she puts it back together, and hope that I can be there when she and Zen do finally face off.

Also interested to see Bambera's first US start this weekend. Maybe it will be an interesting Apple Blossom after all.
