(no subject)
It is strange, my relationship with LJ. I enjoy reading entries, check out what my favorite authors have been writing, wish that some people I know would write more often, etc. But, I rarely write. Somehow what I have to write about seems so mundane. Even when there's something unusual going on in my life it rarely inspires me to sit down at the computer and write about it.
This week I'm on vacation (next week, too), if you can call getting caught up here at home "vacation". So many things have been put off till later, or till I have time, or till I feel like doing them. ARGHH! I am making progress, though, a little bit at a time. The flower garden is planted, a closet cleaned out, though I still have a few loads of coats and jackets to wash. I can get BOTH the canister and upright sweepers in at the same time! Now that's an accomplishment. Found a jacket that no one seems to know where it came from, a navy blue corderoy zippered women's 20-22. Nobody I know wears that size, and no one who's been here lately claims it. Sort of a mystery.
There are a couple big projects I hope to get done the next couple weeks. Biggest is getting new flooring for the kitchen. Last year when we got our carpet we moved the piano into the kitchen temporarily. We tried to be very careful, but even so we managed to gouge a big tear in the vinyl and put a couple smaller gouges in also. We had planned to replace it eventually, but that made us get our act in gear. Of course, DH will have to do the actual replacement, but I will be fetching and helping any way I can. Everything is ready to go, so with the 3 day Memorial weekend we should be able to get most of it finished.
I also hope to get to the mess on the 3rd floor. That has been my nemesis for years. It is so hard to get it all cleaned up and by the time I get back to it it has accumulated more stuff. We only use it for storage now though it could be a nice room for crafts. Right now the biggest problem is photographs. I started sorting them and they are all over the place up there. I get so discouraged every time I try to work on it. I just don't seem to get anywhere.
The other big project and one I really want to do is get to the county library and work on my genealogy. The last couple times I went there I found so much information it was amazing. Especially since all my ancestors were from out of state. There are at least four or five more books that I know of that have a lot of vital information I need that I haven't even started on.
But today I've just about done all I want to. Besides cleaning up both the living and dining rooms and cleaning out the refrigerator, doing 35 minutes of DDR, I had a bunch of errands to run. I'm tired. In fact I think I'm going to go read and maybe take a little nap. Sounds really good right now!
