When I moved to Missouri, I had trouble finding a job because there aren't many of those for the taking around here. When I finally did find a job, it was at Wal-Mart that's a 45 minute drive from where I live.... Not that I'm complaining. My requirements at that point were low. (ie - Find a job that pays more than it takes to get to.) ... Unfortunately, I have been spending about $150 every two weeks on gas getting to and from work, which ends up being almost half my paycheck. I am grateful to have had the job, and proud of the impression I made on the people there, but it just wasn't worth the travel costs for a long-term job.
Now I have a job at the nursing home here in town. It will pay a little less for about the first month, but that will be more than compensated by the fact that I only have to drive (or walk) about a mile to get there. It's definitely a less glamorous job, but it will be helping people in a more basic way, so I'm good with that. I'm definitely excited about the new job, but I hate starting new jobs. There are all the things they tell you in the first couple days that you have to remember and all the names you have to remember and the personalities you have to adjust to working with on a daily basis. *sigh*
In case you were wondering... I'm babble-typing because I haven't been on here in so long and it feels good to express myself. Hopefully I will be on here more often, so that should stop soon.
Also, it's good to be back. ^_^
