Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Well, it snowed yesterday. About 2-3 inches, actually. I ventured out this morning after class to get my paycheck and check my schedule. The good news is that today I can curl up with my laptop and write some original fiction while drinking a steaming mug of hot cocoa, because I'm done with classes and I don't have to work tonight.

Even better, we might not have class tomorrow. Early reports called for 8-10 inches tonight. then my boss told me we might get more. Then my roommate told me we could get 15. One of my roommates has already had a class cancelled. Tell you one thing, I'm not trudging across campus at 8:00 through 8 inches of snow for Latin. No way.

Oh, also, all of the cars are covered in drifts, so it's hard to tell one from another. I actually tried to break into someone's car today thinking it was mine. Yeah. Tried the remote and key for five minutes before noticing the drink cup in the holder. Black and dark green look eerily similar under the blinding light of a winter morn.

And driving kinda sucked. I'm glad I learned to drive in shit like this because the people who didn't? You can tell. The snow's not plowed too well here, and I fishtailed and skidded with every stop and start. There was literally one clear stretch of road in the entire town. I'm so used to Omaha!

ALSO, since I guess I'm using this post to bitch and moan and whatnot, there was a speech tournament this weekend. i worked really hard over Thanksgiving to get a Dramatic piece (Karla) up. And I did. I got it transcribed (over the course of three nights), cut, and (mostly) memorized. my coach also wanted a duo. My duo partner did that. This is the conversation we had with my coach the Wednesday before the tournament:

Coach: So, it's cut and in the book, but not memorized?
Partner: Yeah.
Coach: And we're not sure on time?
Partner: Yeah.
Coach: Do you have time to work on it before Saturday?
Me: I've planned out my schedule between now and Saturday and I barely have time to eat. I've got a research paper, Latin homework, 16 credit hours, work, a paper for Old Testament-
Coach: You can do it during Supernatural.
Me: That's when I'm doing Latin.
Coach: Work on it Friday.
Me: I have to pack, go to work, and write a paper.
Coach: All right, so you'll do it Friday.

No joke. Like, seriously. In three days, the only solid food I had was half a BLT. And I got sick. I had a fever at the tournament. We didn't end up taking the duo because, surprise, we didn't have it memorized and, surprise, I actually couldn't remember any of my other speeches. The coaches are pushing us so hard because they think that we should all be qualified for nationals already but what they don't understand is that speech =/= life for all of us. I'm not going to graduate and come back to coach. I mean, that's not my plan. love speech, but they're making me start to hate it. And I'm not the only one. They want us to coach constantly during FINALS WEEK because we don't have class. We don't have class because WE'RE TAKING BIG-ASS TESTS!!!!! Helllooooooo!

Yeah. I am so ready for Christmas break, it's not even funny.

i majored in stupidity, college
