OOPS!

First of all, I'd like to make it clear that I am normally quite a practical person - I know my way round a tool box and I'm a dab hand with a jig-saw or power drill.   Normally......

Today I decided to de-calc our shower mixer tap. I have to clean the filters in all our taps occasionally as we have hard water and also we get odd bits of grit in the water too (our water supply comes from a spring a few kilometres from here). I'd never done the shower mixer but I watched when the plumber did it for me and I had the wee instruction book. The book was all in pictures - no words - I suppose that saves on the cost of translating for sales in loads of different countries.

Started off well by unscrewing the chromed covers and then I took the spanner to the bit underneath. Then it all went wrong :-O

Suddenly there was water coming out where it shouldn't - Oh BU**ER! It seems the metal is quite brittle and I'd sheared it off completely - the shower has now been sealed off until I can get to a plumbing supplier to find a new mixer tap.

Fortunately our old shower downstairs is functional so that'll have to do for now.......

I got rather wet.....
