PD26: Children and seagulls (and postcards)

Apr 07, 2020 11:21

The children in the kindergarten next door are having an egghunt, and it's nice to watch and hear them have fun. The sound from the kindergarten is one of those things I've missed these weeks. The kindergartens are open to children of essential personell and children with special needs, but there are only about five children as I can see, as opposed to the millions there normally is. Actually I don't know how many there are normally, I tried looking it up in the council database, but it was down for manitenance. On the other hand I found that 92,2% of Norwegian children aged 1-5 goes to kindergarten, and that my neighbourhood has a Wikipedia-page, and my housing association is listed as one of the sights. That might be grasping at straws.

And here I am sitting at my baloncy I am also watching the seagulls, who are looking for somewhere to put their nest. Last year they had a nest on top of the kindergarten, the year before on top of my house - then I was sometimes scared when they came flying in towards the nest, imagining that one day I'd find myself with a gull's beak lodged in my eye. And this year is it so quiet around here, I suspect the gulls will build nests everywhere. And when the chicks come, the nervous partners will dive bomb and attack anyone coming too close. Two years ago, I ended up covering myself with an umbrella whenever I ventured outside, just when the chicks were learning to fly. Last year the gulls lost all their eggs, sad for them, good for us.

Today I plan on venturing into town and buy some essential stuff, and I thought I'd pick up some postcards as well, so if any of you want a postcard, send me a message with your address.
