To the girl who wrote this on Facebook:
"one best friend is an aunt and the other is getting married in three months...good lord, I'm an adult!"

No, that makes your friends the adults.  When you pay your own bills and buy your own toilet paper you can revisit this concept.  Meanwhile, your friends have moved out, graduated, and are now working actual jobs.  They are the adults.

Also being an aunt has nothing to do with adulthood.  You are not actually raising a child as an aunt.  You are just adjacent to child-rearing people and get to some child spoiling but that has nothing to do with actual childcare.

I understand that these are concepts that seem adult-like, that you are old enough to have your friends doing these things.  But your friend who is getting married? Yeah, she has been an aunt for 5 years now, since she was 19.  Other people become aunts much earlier in life.  That is really not a milestone to judge adulthood against.  In fact, neither is getting married since a lot of people do that before they are well and truly adults (much like having children).  I think the best milestone is judge adulthood is when you no longer feel the need to announce it in public, on Facebook and/or on Twitter.
