In honor:

The venerable ELPH s100, whom has served me so well for so many years, bringing joy to the hearts some, has finally begun to bite the big one of retirement.  Indeed, perhaps taking it canoeing, even wrapped and double wrapped in the heartiest of ziploque bags, was a move of poor merit on my part.  5 years of excellent service, for the bargain used price paid, is a fair lot in my book.

But soon, oh so soon, I'll be on a plane, and on another, and another, and when I land...  I'll be there again.  I'll be in Australia again, and this time, instead of looking for the realest mustache I ever did see, I'll be looking for the waiting arms and brilliant, room lighting smile of one Ms. Catticut Palichnova.

Well, after toil, and trolling ebay again, again... a new camera now sits in my hot little hands.  A device to capture one tiny fraction of the beauty I'm to partake, now, then, and for a long, long time.

Le Neu (intimately used) Panasonic FZ5.

It's a bit sad that I had to take a picture of it with the ELPH.  If you look closely, you can see tears.

Anyway!  Here's my first day's worth of experiments.  I can already tell, it's going to take a -long- time to get to know this beast.  I has buttons, and words... words I've never dreamed of.

Here's a pic of mum, becaus she's awesome.

I'm going to start with some pictures of my roomate Dave's mask collection:

Wasn't that fun, kids?  Obvious white balance issues, note to self... otherwise, pretty good for having almost 0 light in the room (all were 8 second expsosures at F3.x)

Next, I went out to get my rent money, and spent a few hours photographing things along the way to the bank.  Heh, it was a short drive.

Yes.

And, from last night...

So there you have it, hopefully the beginnings of a lot of good ones for the scrap (heap) book.

Love for all the childrens of the harses of the earth!
